The Centre for Biodiversity through National Wetlands Information Centre aspires to be a leader in monitoring the status of Kenya’s rare species and plant communities. The information centre’s monitoring efforts will provide information and feedback that are critical for the management of our natural heritage resources throughout the country. Surveys will contribute important information on population status and viability of species as well as the impacts of human activities on particular ecosystems. The centre will pioneer techniques for assessing the biodiversity status of wetlands and other ecosystem types. Wetland condition assessment tools will help identify conservation priorities and opportunities throughout the country.
